Still-Life (2019)

"Still-Life" is a series of paintings based on the image of 'a girl flowing in the river', which came to her in a sudden moment in her life in Koganecho. In Koganecho, many women worked in "the blue line area"where prostitution was illegal after the WWⅡ, but now that memory is fading.

The image of the girls floating in the river is painted on a transparent tablecloth. The images are reflected in the surface of the river water and, as human figures, leave the surface of the painting and drift down the river. At this moment, the girl/artwork as an object to be seen momentarily escapes the one-sided gaze, and at the same time returns from a singular image to an image with multiple layers.
